Epson D68 printer problem - red light on and will not print

Options
I have an Epson D68 printer that will not print. As soon as I switch it on the red light comes on (far left of the three buttons). I have tried changing cartridges but that did not help. The Epson ink status monitor is blank suggesting a communication problem not informing the computer of the ink levels. Does anyone have any ideas short of ordering a new printer?!

Usually the light(s) flash, and mean the ink pads are full or the counter has reached its set limit, the options then are reset or renew, with ink pad renewal likely to cost more than the printer.

Clutching at straws is this, button resets can work on some printers

You can try here to ask them for a link to the protection counter reset, the link they have does not work for me

    http://www.refillingcartridge.com/reset-protection-counter-for-epson-c67-c68-and-d68

Or look for a similar programme

Or use SSC to reset the counters with SSC, however, the D68 is marked **

** - NOTE! It is impossible to reset ink counters by software methods on this printers.
Use "ink freezer" function to maintain current ink level and "hot swap" to use refilled old cartridges.
    Or use additional device.

So run it with the above in mind

    Also

    2) You understand the risk of whole head or individual nozzles clogging in case of tardy replacing of empty cartridges, as well as risk of using hot swapping function (this include frequently cartridges replacement, or wrong deblocking of parking head on some models). You understand, that resetting the ink level counters or using ink freezer function implies responsibility to carefully watch ink levels in all cartridges and timely (as soon as You see any raw white bands, even in one color) replace cardridge.

I agree with all above statements and want to download software (v4.30)
