Advice needed on sending phone to buyer with low feedback

I have just sold a new HTC wildfire phone. I've sold phones before so made sure I stated in the listing that I would only sell to UK buyers with minimum 5 positive feedback and changed the settings so that it the buyer had to have a paypal account, be in the UK etc.

The phone has now been bought (and paid for) by a UK buyer with only 2 positive feedback (both for low cost items). He has a confirmed address, but I'm still concerned that he may be a scammer and even although I will be sending using Special Delivery, they might claim the box was empty or similar?

Any suggestions? Should I cancel it and relist or take the risk?

Why are you so convinced that someone with low feedback who has paid promptly is a scammer?

Feedback is no guarantee of someone's honesty. As you've found out it makes no difference writing that on your auctions because it is unenforceable.

If it is worth more than £46, send it Special Delivery. I'm not sure whether you are covered by RM for phones not sent SD even if you keep proof of posting, but really, you have little grounds to refuse the sale and you could risk a neg, low DSRs and a non-performing seller dispute if you refund them now.

I would just carry on with the sale. Feedback is useless now anyway, since you can't neg a buyer.

Make sure you send it special delivery and keep a record of the phones IMEI number.

Thanks for the helpful replies, I think I may just be getting paranoid but having read about lots of scams re phones on ebay I was just a bit concerned.

Check you have the money in your Paypal account. The phone scammers never pay, they just send a fake payment email.

There are other issues phones can have, but you can't tell one buyer from another without risking a problem yourself by telling the wrong person they're a potential scammer .

Actually no matter the cost phones need to be sent special delivery. Royal mail do not cover phones for compensation in standard mail

Its one of the things that is buried in their T&Cs. Saying that I have sent a few low value phones standard mail and even one airmail to Ireland but they were all valued around the 10 or 20 pound mark and it was a calculated risk I was willing to take. I would never advise a new seller or someone who doesn't normally sell phones to do that though.

You must be getting confused with posting overseas. Mobile phones under £46 are eligible for compensation using ordinary mail.
