Lost Passport

Hello,
I have managed to loose my passport. I am flying next Thurs which does not give me enough time for the premium week service. I cannot also can not do the one day service as they do not do them for lost passports....

This info was gathered from the Passport helpline... but....
a few friends have told me I can go and queue at the London Office in Victoria to get one in a day? Is this true? Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks

Desperate and in need! I hope my passport magically turns up..
James

Oh it will, not long after you have bought your new one, sods law
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • I am sure you are right, but if anyone can help with letting me know if I can turn up and queue to a passport that would be much appreciated?

I suggest you phone the passport advice line again. If you haven't already declared the passport lost then I would do so without delay.

If you have one of the new picture driving licences you can get a replacement passport in a matter of hours on the same day - I too looked at the website and it contradicted what is the actual process.

Just turn up with the correct paperwork and you will get it on the same day!

i lost mine 3 days before i was due to fly in 1999.. i went to petty France with id and my plane tickets to prove i was going.. i got mine the following day. i think i could have had it on the same day but you need to turn up early as it can be a long wait..
it was a long time ago but im sure they can still do it now

It's not Petty France anymore and the system is very different - its actually very organised

As I said if you have a picture driving licence you can get it within a matter of hours

0300 222 0000 and ask for a premium 4 hour service at the counter - they will do it for a lost passport - make sure your appointment is in the morning or you will have to come back the next day to pick it up
    Good Luck
    Titch :)

The advice line will probably tell you that you can't get the 4 hour service for a lost passport - but get an appointment as soon as possible (a morning one if you want it the same day) you can ask for the 4 hour service when you get interviewed. Having a picture driving licence makes no difference to anything - they have all the details of your passport on their system - all you need is a completed application form, LS01 (lost and stolen form), 2 recent photographs and the fee of £129.50. - I would also take proof of travel.
If you can't get an appointment before your date of travel - you could turn up at the office and wait for a cancellation.

When I contacted the passport service when I mislaid my passport they advised me you could not do the same-day service for lost passports, only renewals. I found it subsequently though, so not sure the real answer.

0300 222 0000 is the call centre - who have to follow specific guidelines - the staff in the actual passport office have the final decision. Once they have a look at your application they can decide what service you can have. Generally if you haven't lost any passports before and your lost passport was a digital or biometric passport, they can offer you the 4 hour service
