    thanks!

the garden....is well... at the moment overgrown, the dog dissapears when he goes out there! we plan to clear it and use the entire space for growing fruit and veg!

Sounds great, these not alot to sow at this time of year, but its a good time to start clearning.

Without going off topic, (I don't want this thread to be moved to green fingered) but alot of gardeners, (me included) have this time as the start of the new gardening year.

Back on topic, if you can get to a wilkinsons you might just get some cheap seed trays/plant pots and half price seeds. :money:

On which note, Gardeners World is on now, best of luck, exciting times :j

i will venture in to the greenfingered board soon, luckily i picked a good one and OH's grandparents own a garden centre:D so seeds i'll be good for, but they don't do much in the way of pots etc.
i might start attacking it this weekend!

Big stockpot. Then you can make lots of extra to freeze.

  • Big stockpot is a good idea, perfect for soup and stock. I also love my cast iron pots like this http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.203-9034.aspx we've picked up old cast iron pots at the car boot sale. In fact, I've bought loads of kitchen equipment from the boot sale, some lovely big old fashioned mixing bowls and the like.

My oven, taken for granted most of the time. In my camping days it was just a gas burner or two and I once rented a holiday cottage with a dodgy oven.

I can improvise with most things but I love my oven.

My mum tells me about how her mun used to cook in the oven on the peat range and how they had to turn the bread to even out the baking or it would be burned on one side and raw on the other.

Fan assisted and all that jazz now.

I'm not a huge fan of bread machines - I personally think that you're just bringing a (scaled down) version of a bread factory home and it's not really a 'home made' loaf (sorry if this is controversial!) If I had the option then I'd go for a decent mixer over a bread machine any day - it'll take the hard work out of kneading but then you're still able to give the dough a good long proving and you can control the bake much better. You also don't get loaves with holes in the bottom!!
