Some advice about an abandoned car
Nearly a year ago one of our elderly neighbours passed away, leaving her car parked in the lane just beside her house where she usually parked it.
The lane is uphill and emerges onto the street, so the car is pointing downwards and is blocking the lane for all the other residents.
It's never really bothered me until now but recently I had the thought that eventually the car's handbrake could fail and the car would roll straight down the lane and crash into whatever cars or people were in its path.
Given that the deceased lady's family is apparently unconcerned with the car after a year and that surely it can't just be left there blocking the lane forever, should I report it to the council to see if it can be removed?
It's not a wreck, it's a Suzuki Ignis that appears perfectly serviceable.

Tricky. Reporting it to the council for removal will mean that they contact the registered keeper (presumably the dead woman) and if no response recieved (so the family not collecting the mail) they'll take it away and scrap it.
Sadly there is also a light fingered option which relies on the same lack of response.

Has the tax run out on it then?0

Whoever is the executor of her estate is the person responsible for the vehicle ...0

Its more likely for the brakes to seize than fail and roll away.
Is it a private lane? Is the car taxed?
Blocking the lane for a year? I presume its not blocking it fully or nobody actually needs access past it?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Dont know who to contact BUT brakes unlikely to fail, much more likely that they will seize and it wont be able to be moved at all0
