Ceiling Fan Hell - remote info needed

I'm going mad over some ceiling fans i want fitted!
The first ones arrived and were so heavy that the spotlights wobbled, and the sparks dropped the matching one.
I think they were more industrial units.
I only have a 12x12ft ish room.
So i went to Homebase and bought these:
http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&productId=235316&langId=110&cmpid=AFPFD&_$ja=tsid:18771|cc:|prd:804062|cat:Lighting%3ECeiling+Fan+Lights
Right next to them was a remote control for ceiling fans, so i bought two of them.
Sparks about to put up lights to find the remote control doesn't fit.
Now reading both sets of instructions the remote has a dimmer switch and the fan said you can't use a dimmer switch, so i'm stuck!
Can anyone suggest a remote control unit that will work with this fan (fan control only, so i don't use the dimmer function)
Alternatively, can anyone suggest a fan and remote control unit for about £80 Must have spotlights.

Was a 40 a day smoker for 20 years.
Decided to give up, and haven't had a fag for 12 years.
Halfway through losing six stone.
Looking forward to early retirement.

Do you have a link to the RC unit- the scenario sounds a little unlikely. Most fans will take full-scale input, not reduced by a dimmer.0
