Thomson dodge baggage damage liability

I found an old post from 2007 on the travel board and have added to that as well as I have had exactly the same experience of Thomson refusing liability for luggage wrecked while being taken off a cruise ship. They will accept liability if your case is damaged in their care before/during/after a flight but not while being unloaded from the ship on a Thomson cruise. We were told to leave it outside the cabin and pick it up on the quayside at departure which is when we found (and reported) that it was ruined. They just say claim on your holiday insurance and accept the £50 excess.
