Help with stair gate please :D

Hi all, I am after a stair / safety gate for my dog. I have seen this one and it seems fine. What I'm not clear on cos I'm a bit dim...is can it be easily moved from one door to another (to save having to buy 2) I chose pressure mounted rather than screw for this purpose but that may not be what it means. Any help apppreciated!!

    Hi there,

I have used something similar in the past. The system is semi permanent and not designed to be moved about but you could try. It is as you say a pressure system driven by screw threads and providing it doesn't weigh much should be a snap to relocate. If it proves to be a pain or causes damage to walls and/or decorated surfaces it comes into contact with (due to it being moved back and forth) you could simply buy another one.

    cheers,

I've got the same gate for dog control reasons. If you don't want it fixed permanently, you use the semi permanent fitting which is the screws with a plastic/rubber pad on the end (the black bit if you zoom in on the first picture) and the blue bit twists to lock that against the door frame. To get it secure you do have to screw them very tight to the door frame and this can leave little circular marks in paintwork when you come to remove them.

My dogs didn't bounce off the gate or jump up to put their front paws against it so I don't know how secure it would be if that were the case but just get into a routine of checking all the fixers are screwed tight on a regular basis.

Also depending on the height and intelligence of your dogs you need to ensure that whenever the gate is closed, the handle is clicked fully into the locked position. Big dog (rottie/boxer cross) has realised that if the handle is not locked properly, she can push the handle up and open the door.
