Morning people!
Had an email from'HMRC' today stating:
After the last annual calculation of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax rebate of: 332.79 Pounds
Regarding this, please click here in order to process your tax rebate.
TAX REBATE NUMBER: Please allow us 9 to 14 days to process your refunds.
Our head office address can be found on our web site at http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/
Thank you,
HM Revenue & Customs Officer

I'm not due any tax back and at no point have I given HMRC my email so I know this is a fake. Plus wouldn't it have a confidentiality bit at the bottom? It has no headers and doesn't use any of my names anywhere in the email, the one I recieved is exactly as posted here. On my actual email the 'click here' bit is a link and when I hover over it it gives the following at the bottom of my page: bambouzen.fr.
The linkt hat appears on this page for the HMRC website is not a clickable link on the email... it's a poor job really! lol
Obviously I haven't clicked on it but I wonder who I should, or even if I should, report this to? Do I report it to HMRC?
Thanks, Bea x

Hi beabea81,
I've had a few of these emails - they are scams. Best reported to your ISP and then deleted.
Best wishes. x0 -
I figured it was...it's not even a good attempt at one lol
Will report to Sky after dinner

Yeah, the amateurish nature of some of them defy belief. Sadly, there are always those one or two that look convincing enough to dupe an unsuspecting person...
