Double Glazing - noise problems

Hi all

I've recently had some double glazing fitted. However, I still hear more noise from outside than I would expect. I've lifted up the plastic trim around one of the windows, and noticed that there is no 'filling' between the window frame and the wall; I would have expected this to be filled with expanding foam or something similar, otherwise, the only soundproofing occuring around the frame is the plastic trim andt the plaster of the inside wall where it joins to the frame.

Anyone have any thoughts as to whether this could be the cause of my noise problem? And if it is standard practice (or not) to fill around the frame?

Thanks in advance...!

I'm not an expert but the house we used to rent had a lovely looking brown set of double glased doors and windows, just as the whole complex of houses around us. I realized how poor the sound proof was just after we moved to the next house - the older windows, white, and the difference is unbelievable!

I'd still contact the manufacturer or the company that fitted them and place a complaint, I don't see any harm..
