Yes but on a car worth £500 it starts to get pricey.
Weighing the tax in means about £150 back. Scrap value is £170 so that's £320. Insurance wanted £25 a week plus there are the advertising costs so it starts to become uneconomical! psssh!

Most policies charge around £50 to cancel, so the first month is likely to cost you £100. You much better getting it added onto your current policy temporarily IF the insurer will let you.
You only options are as scheming gypsy has said, take a policy out (costly), add temp insurance until its sold (again costly) or you final choice is to SORN it and cash the tax back.
If you SORN you will have to tell buyers they will have to trailer it away or sort their insurance out and then go and get tax, whether or not they take your advice is down to them but atleast you have told them. There is no other way around it now, if you don't show up as insured on the database or SORN its automatic fine the police don't even need to catch you!!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Adding as a temp to your existing insurance seem a viable option - done it a number of time on courtesy cars - my last one cost an extra £63 for 18days of insuranceI owe £3233 @ 0%0

It will certainly be the best option but not all insurers allow it so will really depend on the insurer.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

First time i would hear that an insurance company will turn down the opportunity to earn a premium - unless you are adding a ferrai or bugatti as a temp carI owe £3233 @ 0%0 -
My last insurer point blank refused to add a 2nd car temporarily, its one or the other. More main stream insurers like direct line/aviva for example maybe more forgiving.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0
