Job interview clashing with previously made plans

Hi, so I quit my part time job to go travelling before I went to uni this September.
But instead of going for 3 months as planned, I went for 3 weeks so as of 2 weeks ago I ran out of savings (money goes further in Asia
) and had to claim jobseekers whilst looking for another job before uni.
I've just had my claim accepted after arsing about why I decided to resign, and I've also been offered an interview for a "payday advance" company; but its on the same day that I planned to take the train to a music festival that I booked and paid for in January.
I don't think I'll be able to re-arrange the interview as its a recruitment day involving lots of different positions, if I don't go/can't rearrange it, will my job seekers be affected. I really don't want to lose the £100+ that I've paid for the festival and nor do I really want to miss a day that I've specifically paid extra money for; but I also don't want to affect my job seekers as its the only interview I've been offered in the past month and a bit since I've got back.
To clear something up:
January - bought tickets for a music festival
February - decided that as I'm on a gap year, I really should take the opportunity to travel which I'm unlikely to get again
1st May - resigned from previous job and went travelling - original dates being May-July/August, actual dates being just 3 weeks in May
July- get offered a job interview for a company whose ethics I disagree with on a date I've got plans for.

Decide what is more important to you, a music festival or a job.
I'd personally go for the interview.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -
Why don't you just phone and ask, instead of assuming you can't rearrange? Then you'll know one way or the other. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Exactly what advice are you asking for here?
Its a simple choice - go to a music festival or have the chance of a few weeks work and some extra money/benefits for Uni. What's more imoprtant to you? Only you can make that choice.0 -
the only thing that's guaranteed is that you're going to a music festival. You could go for the interview and might not get the job.
See if you can re-arrange the interview to earlier in the day, if you can't see if you can travel later0 -
Great - so
a) you've lied about why you resigned to get JSA
b) when you're offered the potential of a job you decide a festival is more important
You're either a troll or seriously misguided0 -
I'd call to see if you can rearrange but if not, you know sometimes you have to make choices in life which mean whilst you sacrifice one thing you gain greatly in another. I personally think extra money that will help you survive a good while longer is a million times more important than going to a festival. When you earn your money after uni, you can go to loads of these!!0

OK - you said it slightly better than I did :rotfl:0 -

Am I missing something...why did you buy tickets for a festival in this country if you were expecting to be in Asia?0

Or alternatively, call the organisors of the music festival and see if they will change the date to fit in with your interview.0
