Recommendations for a hotel in Edinburgh

Thanks to Mr Branson we have two trian tickets to go to Edinburgh in Januaray. I can get the travellodge for £26 a night and that looks central, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any other good deals for 4* or 5* central hotels, I know it will be more than travel lodge, but it may be worth it, it its nice etc.

  • If you do a search on this forum using the search button up this way ^^ above the threads and type in edinburgh (no capital) you'll pull up loads of thread asking this question.

And once you have booked somewhere to stay, have a look at the Scotland Board for places to eat and attractions to see :)

I'll second the Travelodge. It's in a great location.

Have you tried looking on the Laterooms site? When I went to Edinburgh recently I stayed at the Tigerlily Hotel (won in a competition) but thats somewhere around £200 per night! I also went to Edinburgh with work a few years back and stayed in a Travelodge which was good - saying that I didnt pay for that either as work paid!

waverly is the station you want.
there may well be some deals to be had in January at some of the posher hotels like the Balmoral. I'd try some of the late booking sites or last minute.com

when I was young, we lived down south, dad was in the army , visiting my granny at christmas, I will never forget getting off the train at Waverly.
The cold hit me like a bullet. However, there was a crispness about it that stopped it from being unpleasant.
I live with it every day now, am used to it.
