So.......when can we expect our insurance premiums to start dropping?

Just got insurance on our second car -- £180 with £40 cashback -- this is roughly what it was last year all-told.0

Not necessarily - that's 1M people who definitely won't be having accidents.
1m people who won't be paying premiums, they may still be involved in accidents as pedestrians, cyclists or any other method of transport they have replaced their cars with, people don't become stationary when they stop driving

Just out of interest, are there any figures that show the average annual premiums over the last 20 years or so?
Perhaps car insurance has actually got cheaper but we just perceive it is becoming more expensive?0 -

This - Shop around mercilessly and make full use of cashback sites etc.
I followed the guide here a few weeks back and took about £270 off my renewal - And that is with one claim and ending-up with better cover from the same insurance company!0 -

'Claims for You' and the like are the scum of the earth. The legal profession should be ashamed of these scavengers who prey on society. The number of phone calls and texts I have had encouraging me to scam Insurance companies is a disgrace.
If you cann't prove an injury there should be NO Claim, Whiplash injuries are impossible to prove, so Insurance companies MUST fight all these bogus claims, otherwise our insurance premiums are going to continue to rise.0 -

Problem is that the cost of fighting the bogus whiplash claim outweighs the cost of paying up without a fight if the claim is under about £4k, so it's easy money for both the claimant and the rats that are representing him/her/it.
The insurance companies don't lose out as they just add it everyone elses bill. :mad:0 -
Mine has come down, I paid £500 for my first car insruance, TPF&T on a Morris Marina worth £500 in 1988.
This year it cost me £400 for Fully Comp including protected NCD for a Mondeo worth £2,000.
Oh yes, my age has more than doubled since then though lol:A0
