1. What can make a computor switch itself on?
2. Removed MaAfee as avg replaced with Norton System works & can't get rid of McAfee msg alert on start up. Tried Regclean - didn't seem to help

HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
PCs can also be configured to boot up at a specific time using the system BIOS (accessed during start up).
As for the McAfee problem, it seems as though you haven't correctly uninstalled the application. Try installing it again and running the uninstall command from Start -> Programs -> McAfee. While your at it, make sure that a McAfee shortcut isn't located in Start -> Programs -> Startup, if it is, delete it.0 -
When you say switch itself on, do you mean that when you turn it off it reboots?
Agree with MattA, the AV icon in <......>Startup will cause this.
If you are confident with Regedit then search for "McAfee" and manually delete all entries. If you don't know what that is, then please leave it alone for now (no disrespect).0
