Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wed 6th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Busy evening yesterday, we were late home, or at least late getting in to our house as the local dealer was parked across our drive surrounded by customers, so I decided to wait rather than start an argument with a bunch of junkies, some of whom are usually armed. Hubby suggested phoning the police, but I decided not to bother, last time I gave them a detailed description of the dealer & his associate, make, model & colour of car with the registration number & and his approximate address, within 3 or 4 houses but they weren't interested.
Hubby's been dropped at the station with his packup & some cakes for his cleaning team (chocolate brownies & banana loaf), we were up by 4:30 picking veg from the garden & so I cooked him a full English breakfast instead of just egg on toast which he's had for the last few weeks.
Sausages with new pots & HG veg for tea tonight.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning Hester and all to follow.
Beautiful and bright at the moment. But the forecast is changeable. The heavens opened yesterday just as I had got home. DH and I raced out and managed to get all the washing in. Luckily we whisked it in in seconds and it was all dry:)
Dinner tonight will be whatever I get out of the freezer in a minute.
Having visitors tonight, so will have to have a tidybob to make place presentable.
Have a happy Wednesday peeps.
Hugs to all those who want or need.
Cheers m'dears, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Morning all - think we had a sprinkling of rain last night - need more though! Boys had so many wet beds last night I ran out of waterproof sheets and then my youngest had another one - grrr. Hope I can get it all washed and hung around the house before I have to go on the school trip.
PHEW xMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Good Morning All
Esmf73 - remember those days - getting up in the middle of the night to change sheets urgh, hope you get it all dried.
Been mia quite a lot recently. Darn life keeps getting in the wayfeeling really healthy at the moment and getting on top of things again. House is reasonable and the ironing is being kept up to date. Although haven't managed to get on the menu planning wagon yet have been cooking every day:j
Had stress this week as between my bank and my client they have managed to lose around £20k, still waiting for that to be sorted.
Today am in the office this morning then off to see a mortgage advisor - see if we can remortgage to a fixed rate then off to work to pick up a vehicle. Need to pop into Apple in Lakeside whilst there to pick up a charger for DD.
Got DD's prom over and done with, it went really well and she had a lovely evening, but now have her birthday to sort. She is having quite a few friends over for a barbecue Sunday - have everything crossed it stays dry.
Anyway, I am really rambling now. Off to give DS a proverbial kick up the bum he is winding down for the end of term already!
(((Hugs))) to whoever needs one.x0 -
Good Morning x
Hester :eek::eek::eek:
It reminded me of my time as a midwife. I used to cover the red light area district and was often called out at night. Having said that I never had any trouble but used to take a deep breathe as I walked past a group in a mellow state:eek::eek::eek:
Need to get back to OS big time. I'm going to concentrate on meal planning I think. I have lots of stuff in cupboards and freezer so need to put it together as meals.
Doggies out for a walk. Poppy's eye is now getting much better and she has become much more tolerant of having her drops in. Had a bit of a run with her recently and very definitely not MS as i had to pay an £80 out of hours vet charge but she is worth it x
Hope everyone has a good day.
Hope Lou is out of hospital today and that Jackie O and Jackie G families are doing well xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning all,
It rained a lot in the night here but it is bright and sunny now, hope it stays dry as OH and DS are off to watch the one day international cricket at Trent Bridge this pm.
Hester It might be worth continuing to pester the police, we had a dealer living on our road and after many complaints from lots of people on the street they eventually raided his house and he no longer lives there.
DD2 is going to her new school for a day today. She is really excited but also very nervous, at least her brother and sister are already there so if she is really lost she knows where to turn.
Tonight DD1 is in a dance show and DD2 and I are going to watch it, looking forward to that.:D
Hugs to all who need them.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning my lovelies
Heavy rain here but it's soooooooo needed. Lay in bed listening to it this morning, don't think there's anything better to listen to that
Plans for today are finish DD's bunting, bake some cupcakes for her party and freeze and actually do some housework (because I've done NONE this week :o)
Tea will be makeshift as I have tap class tonight.
Hester - Police will no doubt already know who he is, they usually do. But playing devils advocate it may be that they are doing surveillance on him.....my bro has done such stuff before.
esmf - hope your washing dries
Hugs and spoons all round, have a great day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning all,
Been raining off and on all night, but looks a bit brighter now, work for me today so any OS will be when I get home.
Chicken fried rice for dinner, will get dd to chop the various veg for it, she can also hoover through and tidy lounge and kitchen, dont want her getting bored
Relations with mother are on the turn, she phoned me last night to ask if I could go and collect dad from hospital, he had been waiting 4 hours for hospital transport sat in an upright stiff chair, so dd and whipped over to collect him, bless him, for the first time ever I had to get a wheelchair for him, he is just so weak, he always looses so much weight when in hospital, I know he will never return to full health, but at least at home, he gets fed enough, and my mum controls his blood levels.
OK better get on, have good days all, hugs where needed xx0 -
Good Morning everyone, what a lovely day it is this morning ,the sun is shining and the sky is blue and the view from my window across the medway is gorgeous.Plus I had my DGD Holly on the phone absolutely buzzing as she is 18 today ..We are having a big family BBQ on Sunday as its her dads birthday next Wednesday as well.My youngest is doing her special cheesecake with drizzled chocolate on top and I'm doing the sausage rolls I might do a bit of gammon in the SC on Saturday as well We all like to take something when we have a family do as it helps out as there will be around 25+ including assorted children, boyfriends and girlfriends.
Today I have the school run first thing then home for a couple of hours then back to DDs to let the dogs out and sort her kitchen out so it looks tidy for when she comes home .pick the little ones up at 3.30 and back to Dds for milk and cookies for the kids and I may do her outside downstairs windows for her as the man is due to do the rest this week She lives in a town house so its on three floors. I shall be there until around 6.30 then home to relax and put my feet up.The days just seem to whizz by at the moment so its a good job I am having lots of NSDs for awhile .just over two weeks and the boys break up for the holidays then I won't be too-ing and fro-ing quite so much.I shall be there for most of the day for three weeks then we will all be off on our summer holidays for a fortnight. Not sure whats for lunch yet I'll have a rummage in the freezer shortly to see what i can find I have lots of salad bits in the fridge so I may cobble siomething together from that.Hope everyone has a brilliant day
Cheers Chums

Morning All
Had some rain here last night now sunny and breezy. Enjoying it being a bit cooler.
JACKIEO Happy birthday to your DGD.
RR hope your Dad picks up and things improve between your Mum, I always feel being a carer makes you loose all rational thought and your Mum is so lucky to have you.
Off to do Mum's cleaning today, am taking some sugar soap around to do her kitchen. Then I've got work tonight.
Tea tonight is leftover pasta bake and HG salad.
Have a good day all and hugs to anyone who needs one
