bit of help needed please

Right click on “My Computer, select “Manage” select “Disk Management and see if it is there.

If it is click on it and follow the prompts. If not I haven't a clue what to do next.

thanks for all your advice i will try your idea's out the next time im over my sisters but surely if its a brand new pc nothing should be disabled.

Have you put some files on the stick, insertedit, and then looked in My Computer? Was there an extra drive? Or isnt it seeing it?

device manager

now open up 'universal serial bus controllers' is there anything there at all?, does anything have a yellow exclamation mark next to it? reason being you might have to install the usb drivers for the motherboard.
