Big problems with stew :( Help Please
Shamish
In the middle of making a stew was going well until i added some mixed herbs and never realised there was a big hole instead of a shaker and put too much herbs in
Anybody know a good way to cover up the herbs taste?
Got Dried Thyme, Marjoram, Oregano, Parsley, sage and Basil in the mixed herbs so anything that would cover these up any suggestions?
Would a splash of red wine help?
Thanks

Carrots, Onions, Potatoes and Beef stock.
Some tomato Puree.
Thats all i could see in the house to put in at the start got a few other herbs etc. i could put in now but unsure of anything to counter the taste thought maybe chilli powder?
Hopfully anything else?0 -
You could add some tomato soup (Campbell's concentrated is best for all stews) or some tomato purée with extra stock but you may need to add some sugar. Or you could add more potatoes to bulk it up - you'd probably need more stock then.
Roughly how many extra herbs have you added? Double what you wanted?TL0 -
You could take all the veg out and make a fresh stock.
You would only have the hebs stuck to the vegatables in the new stew.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

Added probably about double the amount i wanted
Just wanted to add a small sprinkle but instead got a massive lot
No soup
Got potatoes on for mash so hopfully that'll help
Thanks for the help anything else you can suggest let me know

Take out all the solid stuff and rinse in a colander, make a new stock out of water, passata, a little of the old stock and oxo then start again.
HTHThe quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0 -
Removing the veg and chucking the stock would be my very last resort as most of the flavour is out of the veg now so it will taste pretty dull, I think.
