What i the situation with your car insurance when u get a mobility car ?

Hi well i hopefully will be getting a mobility car if my dla renewal goes through, and i was wondering what is the situation with paying for the rest of your car insurance for that year as when u get a mobility car your insurance is included. Do we still have to pay for the rest of the year with our insurers or do they allow us to end our policy when they know we are taking up a mobility car.

As soon as you get rid of your old car contact your insurers and they will end the policy. If you have paid in advance (as you usually do) you will get a part refund.

Cancel the insurance and get a refund fif you paid yearly, if you pay monthly they may expect a little more from you depending on the conditions of your policy.

You will lose any no claims you have accrewed by getting a morability car as no claims only last for 2 years, RSA and two other companies will accept a letter saying you didnt claim while on the three years of motability but their quotes are more than the insurers that dont claim to take it into account (as in double in many cases!), we did a poll on a disabilty website a while ago and everyone found the same so the three years "free" insurance can cost you a packet unless you do as I did and transfer your no claims to another car you regularly use in the household.

More and more insurance companies are taking no claims bonus from RSA Motability now so losibg your no accrued 'no claims' need be less of a concern than it used to be.

Lies from soneone who has never used the scheme until picking up a car a month ago or so and dosnt have a clue how things work, I have had one motability car and you dont get any no claims at all when on motability and any previous no claims are lost after two years, you can ask for a letter from motability (not RSA, they wont give you one as its a class insurance and not individual policies) which may be taken on board by three insurers but without any reductions on the price they offered when we all tried it to see if the letter worked.

Not according to many other posters here ithe past and you stated yourself your enquiries were quite sone time ago. Oh and your attitude stinks acusing people of 'lies' just because you don't like them.

Grow up and get a grip, you've posted misinformation many times.

My motability car went back this year :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I look at it all before I got my car and every step of the way from start to finish (4 years in all in microscopic detail), thats my experiance and you dont have any experiance at all, just your own ideas of how it works and how it works just to suit your situation, get a grip and learn to understand all the information people post instead of discounting what dosnt support your own thoughts.

My brother has just returned his Motability car (on 1st July this year) at the end of his contract and has bought a new car instead of leasing another on the scheme.

After asking, RSA did send my brother a letter confirming that he has had no incidents/claims/offences etc during his six years with Motability. This letter was then used to obtain the maximum No claims bonus percentage for his new car. The letter was accepted by almost all insurers including Tesco Insurance which is whom he eventually insured with.

I had this recently and a couple of insurers that refused to accept the RSA letters. This isn't a problem as many now do accepts the RSA info - however the companies that don't accept the no claims from RSA are saying that they do not recognise the RSA group insurance as a valid insurance.... therefore if you made any claim in the time you used the RSA group policy then that also does not count.

What I'm saying is that is they don't accept NO CLAIMS (because they don't recognise the insurance) then the can't accept CLAIMS either (because they don't recognise the insurance) :)

So when asked for any claims history in that period you can honesty put NONE.

That would be a nice one for Court or trading standards etc :)
