How can I tell if this is Legit AND what do I do with it?

In my local Murcery there is an advert for Phlebotomist training with https://www.geospace.com. I checked last week and there were 3 places left on the day I am available, then later on I checked there were 6 spaces left, now today there are 3. How do I know this company are Legit? (It's a lot of money).
And I know this might sound silly but what can I do with the qualification?
I am currently a care worker, and would like to work myself up and become a palliative carer, I currently have my NVQ2 and am working towards NVQ3 at the moment. This would look good for me, But apart from making sure this is legit, I am thinking what do I do with this qualification? What jobs? How do I get myself out there with it?
Thanks for any input

If you don't know what you can do with the qualification and it costs alot of money, my advice would be to walk away......until you know whether it will help you in your career and that the training provider is legit.2014 Target;

That is why I am asking on here.
I know it will look good on my CV and will defiantly get me up on the ladder where I want to be. (I have always wanted to be a nurse but sadly quit Uni as I found the writing side of things all to hard, but practical brilliant).0 -
Someone I know of is a phlebotomist and in their case, it is a career in its own right, not just a qualification to add onto a CV for another job role.
Do you mean you want to get into palliative care as a nurse, or in some other role? It might be an idea to volunteer in a local hospice for a while and you can speak to those people who work in the field you would like to get into to find out what qualifications they took.0 -
My personal feeling on this one is that if the course provider is not the NHS or a university, walk away. I am also not sure as to whether being trained as a phlebotomist will help you in your quest to become a palliative carer.0

they have advertised in Leicestershire as wellMad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!0 -
A Phlebotomist is a career choice not an adjunct to the skills of a carer. They are usually employed by clinics, hospitals etc. I would check out the quals required, as it may be that the course would not actually fully qualify you for the role, and would, therefore, be a waste of money.0

I am in Leicester lol
My husband agrees with the above about walking away. I feel gutted to be honest as it would look great on my CV and would give me a wider range of career opportunities. But I suppose doing it via the NHS would be better. But it's getting there in the first place.
I have got myself another job working within palliative care, I am going for a meeting this coming week to discuss when I am available. (Am just doing night sits alternative weekends for the time being, and currently sticking to my present job during the week)0 -

But the thing is any qualification looks good on a CV.
Unless you actually want to do the job that the qualification would enable you to do then what advantage would it be?
For me there have been far too many posts on both the consumer rights board and the education/job board where the posters have signed up to do expensive courses only to find that they aren't recognised and so aren't worth the paper that the certificate is badly photocopied onto.2014 Target;

I would be very careful here - the last time I saw an ad for a phlebotomist it was placed by a local hospital - Training provided and the wages were decent.
The problem with some training courses even when legitimate, is that after the course ends - there are NO jobs available locally - so you have spent the money - but still no job!0 -
Within my local Trust they offer phlebotomy training as an advanced skill to some clinical support workers, I don't know whether this is a national thing though. I don't understand what you mean by being a palliative carer? Would you be a support worker working in a palliative care setting or is this another role? If you want to do phlebotomy too maybe look into being a support worker in hospitals? At least the course would be free and legit!0
