Washing machine problems - any ideas?

I have an Indesit WIL 133 washing machine, it was getting stuck on its wash cycle. I have to stop it and move the dial to drain and then stop it again to put it through a rinse and spin cycle to do a wash.
The water isn't heating up either, after having a look on Google DH replaced the heater element and thermostat sensor as it looked like that may have been the problem, but it is no different. None of the lights are flashing to indicate a problem so does anyone have any ideas about what the problem could be or is it time for a new machine?
