HFC Bank

This maybe a foolish post, but away I go anyway!
I have had I think 5 HFC loans over the last 10 years, mostly for equipment bought from PC World.... I haven't kept any paperwork as I shredded it as soon as the loan was clear, but I'm pretty sure I was paying PPI on at least 2 of them. If I ring HFC, do they have to provide me of details of my previous credit agreements? Or can they just tell me to do on?
Same with Barclays, had a loan with them years ago, again pretty sure it had PPI but have no paperwork.....

Hi there
You can try tracking down the account numbers - for instance if you still bank with the bank where the repayments came out of, then your bank may still hold the details, or if you do online banking is another way, as the account number is normally shown next to the loan monthly repayment, and online may allow you to go back to about 2002 or so.
Or try to remember as much as you can and give them a ring, they may or may not provide you with the details on the phone.
If any of the accounts are still running, they will send you a copy of the agreement for £1 cheque or postal each order within 12 days, again you must provide them with as many details as possible in order for them to track down your details.
If the account is closed they may not provide you with a copy of the agreements but will still hold details for at least the last 6 years, maybe longer, this would then be a SAR request (Subject Access Request), they have 40 calendar days to comply and you enclose £10 cheque or postal order, as stated above give as many details as possible and the one off payment is sufficient for one SAR if all the accounts were with the same bank.
SAR letter template here.

With Barclays, if you have a local bank, call in they may check the details out for you, or do the same as above.
If you do get hold of the account numbers and know for definate you were sold and mis sold the ppi, then its a matter of completing a reclaim questionnaire, personally for the same bank I would complete separate ones in case they get confused, this is on step 3 here.

Remember to keep copies and allow up to 8 weeks, although they may request for more time.
Hope this helps, good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Thanks so much Di... you are from my home county too! I was brought up in Monmouth
Thanks again.
I actually have a claim with Barclaycard already for which I have received my first letter saying an offer will be made shortly. Not very often you can get the banks back for all the ridiculous charges they have forced on you over the years so I want to cover my bases properly!0 -
