Pre payed meters- better to keep or remove ?
Hi
If you move into a house with pre payed meter already installed is it better to keep them or get them changed to regular ones ?
I have only even had regular meters before where you pay the bill by direct debit.
Are pre-paid meters easy to remove ? is there a cost involved ?
Is gas cheaper on a pre paided meter ?
Does anyone have experience of this ?

Hi
I have both electric and gas, its great as you get no hefty bills, and you keep on top of your monthly budget. However, if I had a choice now I would get them removed and swapped over, its a pain when they run out and you have to leg it up the shop to top up. Very expensive on the gas through winter.. I had a debt and it helped to pay it off through the meter, completely paid up now, so Im going to get them changed before winter kicks in. I dont know what the charge is to get a swap, hopefully someone will come along and advise.
