Warmer Kitchen Flooring

Hello, I'm after some advice about our cold kitchen, I'm pretty sure the problem is the drafts from under skirting boards and the fact that the floor is concrete and only has a thin lino covering it. I'm fairly certain the window and door aren't the problem although I'm thinking of putting a thick curtain up over the door in case it is that (provided I can attach a rail to the tiles or put an extendable rod across).
I think that a thicker lino would help and also stop some of the drafts from under the skirting boards (could use some filler after the lino is fitted), does anyone have any other ideas at all?
Thanks

We had industrial flooring heavy duty carpet tiles for 15 years. They had rubber backing and were excellent for insulation. They were hoovered once a month and cleaned with a carpet cleaner, wet type, once a year. The microbes living in them were probably numbered in the billions but we never suffered smells or illness. My wife finally got fed up with them and we have just installed a cushioned vinyl which is probably just as good and much more hygenic. Fill the gaps in your skirting with caulk from a gun and paint the skirting beforehand so that the fitters can do a good job of cutting snugly up to them.0

It seems a little strange that draught is comming under the skirting board when you have solid floors unless you have a stud partition wall that has been poorly errected and the draught is comming under it from the next room.

Try some Cushion Floor Vynil floor covering they have excellent insulating properties and make a difference to the whole room... also as you suggest if you seal round the edges once it is down... NO DRAFTS...:T#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

I was thinking that the cold was coming from under the skirting boards at the outside walls, not neccesarily a draft, also the other outside wall is where the cupboards are and if I take the 'skirting' off the gap at the bottom of the cupboards it is freezing behind them
Thanks for your replies0 -
What does anyone think about vinyl floor tiles or is it better to have someone fit one whole piece? I expect one piece is cheaper than tiles?0
