We have used Haven for the last three years, this year will be our fourth and my kids love it but they are 7 and 5. Im not honestly sure if you 11 year old would it really depends on his nature, as you dont have to do the character shows as later entertainment is on which Bradley and Rory aren't part of. Certainly the activity pass might be up his street.

One thing I will say that with the different sites we have been to we couldnt complain re the quality of the caravans.

We have stayed at several Haven Parks over the years and generally they are not as clean and well looked after as they used to be, plus as the children are getting older, they are not into colouring in and "making things" so tend to find it "boring". We have also been to Centre Parcs (and its sister Sunparks) several times recently. in Holland and Belguim and found it much cheaper that the UK, even after allowing for a chanel crossing. We have also camped and caravanned on a lot of UK sites, and the children prefer this , even without organised activities.
  • we have been going to haven sites for the last 15 years from when our 2 kids were born 14 and 16.We have seen a change it is getting more expensive but we look on it this way your on holiday so tend to spend more anyway.OUR caravans have always been reasonably clean but do differ from site to site. The best haven site for me is seashores at greay yarmouth has unlike other sites you can walk into town if you have no transport.,

have you looked on the hoseasons website? they have quite a few holiday parks on there - varied prices too. might give some options somewhere in the middle between haven and centre parcs?

Anyone been to the haven in kent

I've not been to the Haven park in Kent but have been to the Park Resorts one in Camber Sands and we really enjoyed it. It has a great pool, it wasn't as chavvy as other parks we've been to (but I guess that varies week to week) and we got a nice 3-bed bungalow even though we were on a Sun £9.50 holiday so all in all it was a bit of a result!

The beach at Camber Sands is lovely (walking distance) and the beach cafe is cheap and does great food at a fraction of the price of the on-site stuff. Rye is a 10 minute drive and the town is really pretty as is the harbour.
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

    December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.10

We went to Allhallows OR as we like to call it ALL HELL OWS (Haven Park) Rochester:o was the most dreadful holiday experience ever, the caravan was filthy, and damaged not to mention dirty crockery and utensils put back in the draw, God knows what was on and in the kettle, cutlery tray had remnants of dried food and dead bugs, toilets were dirty oh I can go on but i wont and think you can get the picture (oh and the oven was broken too) lol. The place was such a dump even my 4 year old asked if we had to stay there. Im by no means a snob but that place was disgusting, my first and last!

We've had lovely Haven holidays, but we always go with somebody else so that my son had somebody to play with.

He's 14 now and doesn't like Haven much. It doesn't really offer him much unless there's a good swimming pool. My 5 year old loves it though. We tend to go to Butlins more often so there's something for the older kids to do - onsite cinema, laser-tag etc. and shows that they want to see at night.

It depends what you are going on holiday for and what sort of boy your son is, I suppose. In our large group we found that the boys aged 10+ wanted to see shows and cabaret at Butlins but at Haven they were bored by everything on stage and the only thing to do was play on the beach at night or play games in the caravan, which you can do at places without the Haven price tag.

At Haven I thought the magic shows or comedians or whatever were rubbish and relied on sexual jokes to make the adults laugh. Not much fun for an 11 year old. If you're going back to the caravan for a BBQ and card games then the crappy evening entertainment won't be a problem.

You can see smelly chavvy families beating their children anywhere really, not just Haven. The worst I've seen was at Butlins Skegness - a totally different type of customer to our usual Minehead Butlins.

Sun Holidays are running at the moment so Haven parks are £9.50 each. Only certain dates though, were you meaning for the school summer holidays?

i;ve done haven (and left early, god awful place) and done Centre parks. Worlds apart in my opinion. Would have moved in to centre parks permanently if I could!
