2007 comping challenge

I used to find people had beaten me to the comps. When you have been comping a while -and signed up to just about every site on the net - you start getting lots of emails with the new comps.0

I just won some Kinderton goodies - I would guess at about £10.00 ?
hmm... intriguing.0 -
May I just ask a few questions?
- Do you guys use a secondary email address (rather than your main one) to enter comps? I really hate my inbox being full with spam (yes I know I 'signed up' but ykwim!)
- Is there any chance of winning if you request NOT to be contacted with future promos, etc? I'm not sure if I'll ever win as I'd always opt out - can't see why they'd want to give me a prize but I don't want to be bombarded with their advertising for years to come!
- Do you think it's worth doing postal comp entries for magazines like Take a Break? I'm thinking of just sticking to online comps because with my bad luck I'll not even be able to cover the cost of stamps let alone my internet connection!! :rotfl:
Thanks for your help!

1)Most people do have a seperate email address, personally I don't. There are often some gems like new comps or freebies in the spam.
2) I usually ask not to be contacted, and seem to do ok.
3) I won one of my favourite prizes from a postcard comp in Chat. At the momment I am experimenting with just doing online and local paper (which I hand in), so ineffect comping for no additional cost. As you can see from my signature I have more than covered the challenge, and its only 3rd Feb. I have had some nice wins from postcards, but it can make the hobby expensive if your don't set a limit on entries. I have some books of stamps left from Christmas, so will use these up on the odd comp that attracts me, but won't be buying loads. I am enjoying our challenge enough to keep me going just now.0 -
Prudent, thanks for the advice... right, I'm off the blocks now... will be entering the comps now... fingers crossed that I'm lucky soon!
Also hope that I can also find some new comps that no one else has posted yet... I can't believe how many comps there are out there!Prudent wrote:As you can see from my signature I have more than covered the challenge, and its only 3rd Feb.? Perhaps there could be an 'advanced' level? Perhaps challenge yourself again, say to cover your rail pass to work/insurance premium/small holiday/cost of Xmas (could even use some of the prizes as pressies!). What do you think? Would make it more interesting for you... perhaps there could even be a series of levels!
