The agents on the phone will often close a call without bothering to remove your number as requested. So ask to speak to a supervisor. Ask them for their name, the name and address of their company and tell them you want your number removed. If they still call then make a written complaint.
If you have their telephone number then go onto moneysupermarket and sign them up for fake quotes using their number. They'll get other companies calling them non-stop. Hopefullt their phone lines will implode. The man without a signature.0 -
I would also not be without caller display, i don't know why or how but ours is free aswell.......0

Get a truecall device it may cost over £80 but it cuts over 99% cold callers, in my case ins never once let a cold caller in in over 15 months and I block known numbers and or you can create whitelist to allow friends to call you
Its best bit of equipment I have had since I got my first pvr 10 years ago, you can monitor calls in/out and record conversations when you buy £20 sd card it also extras TrueCall Extra. It includes a range of new features to control unrecognised mobile phone callers, international callers and calls at night. You can find a full list of features here.
You can also monitor calls via web interface so you could do this anywhere in the world
It worked for me past 2 months blocking Scottish power using two numbers, companies dont listen to you when you tell them to stop0 -
My phone lets me block callers, so when they ring it simply rings silently and I don't even know about it.0

register with the telephone preference agency. tell them when they phone again you are registered and should not be receiving unsolicited phone calls, as long as its not some indian call centre they apologise quickly and dont bother me again.0

Ask them for their home phone number so you can call them back later - leaves them speechless!!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
