A bit of a shot in the dark but i recently bought a "FREECOM" external hard drive in order to back up system, music, pictures, etc. to free up space on PC hard drive being a complete computer moron, i thought this would be simple! i have managed to back up ok in the freecom media suite and the music i have dragged and dropped into the AUTORUN section of the suite, my problem is how do i retrieve music ie (and anything else come to that) return it "my music" on pc? does anyone have any experiance with this in the simplest possible term, i emailed freecom at their london address
but i think it is probably beneath them to bother to reply, the SUITE has three sections "SECURE AND COMPRESS" "FREECOM SYNC" "AUTO RUN" the user manual does'nt offer any help,so unless i am missing the blindingly obvious this forum is my last hope!

Open two My Computer windows, one showing files on the Freecom drive and the other in My Music. Then drag files from the first window to the second. It can be done with one window and there are different ways of achieving the same thing, but that's one simple way. Dragging files like this between different devices copies the files (indicated by the + symbol); hold the Shift key as you drag to move them instead.0

chippy_minton thanks for your prompt reply but under the freecom drive only has back up files no music at all and i don't see any plus symbols the freecom file i originally put them in "AUTORUN" has three options ADD FILE, ADD FOLDER, and REMOVE the files are listed as c:\documents and settings\owner\my documents\my....Chippy_Minton wrote:Open two My Computer windows, one showing files on the Freecom drive and the other in My Music. and before the "c" is a question mark in a red circle when i place curser over these files it gives the name of the music contained in it they also do not appear in my documents

Do you want to backup files or just use the Freecom as additional storage. Backups are things you normally use if your original files are damaged. The backups will be stored in a special format on your Freecom drive specific to your backup software. If you want to restore them you will need to use the backup programme to do it.
If you just need the additional storage (which I think you do) just do as chippy minton suggested. Dragging files between the two drives.
Your Freecom should appear in the 'My Computer' window and it will have the next available drive letter. If you have a single DVD drive your Freecom is probably the E drive.0
