inheritence & bankrupcy

I was discharged from bankrupcy early this year. My parents have voiced their concern re: any inheritence. Is it fact that once bankrupt, even when discharged, any monies left are subject to claim from debtors? My folks seem to think that it would take 15 years to be free of the possibility of claims on inheritence?
