Contacting your local MP

We've decided to contact our MP about the dreadful and deleted incompetence my partners experienced with JTL and I'm wondering what's the best way to do this?

I'm not even sure who our local MP is or which constituency I'm in tbh because our county has an east and a west constituency.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

This site will tell you who your MP is, and how to contact them http://findyourmp.parliament.uk/
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)

Jetta you should be able to get the e-mail address of your MP on the site that Easy has provided. Your MP is obliged to help you so don't hold back. Just be polite and to the point. You may find however that the most he can do is to write on your behalf on HOC stationery and it may not be the result you want.

    Thanks both.

Anything's worth a try at this point as he should have had his AM2 a year ago now but he lost employment while waiting for them to give him a date. He then got another position and they've had over 6 months to sort it out for him but go weeks without returning deleted phone calls and now he's out of work again with all the other not fully qualified staff. He could have been earning about £4-5 more per hour this past 6 months if he'd been qualified too. Just one exam that's not even that hard (nobody in his year had any difficulty with it) but they won't sort it out.

If you are writing to your MP I would suggest you don't use jargon, I think using Google I've worked out what JTL and AM2 are but your MP won't have time to waste so it'll be better for you to be clear.

I don't know if its worth contacting your local MP.

The letter will probably be opened by an unpaid intern, getting work experience to open and reply to letters on behalf of the MP.

There may be a better body or organisation to handle your complaint. Who are JTL and what do they do?

They are a training company running apprenticeships in industry trades like electrical installations, plumbing, plastering etc.

Most MP's do get involved with their constituents when you need somebody with more weight to stand up for you. Even if it's just one letter saying that this is not good enough and no way to treat students trying to build a career and hang onto their jobs in a very weak and unpredictable industry at the moment and that they expect to see it resolved swiftly, then that could go a ling way and be all we need to finally get them to do something.

Don't know that it's either, no idea where their head office is, haven't looked.

You would be better of contacting Osfted than your MP.

They could give you better, more relevant advice and possibly even try to intervene.
