Hiya all
We are in the process of trying to clear some debts (yes! Same old story!). I have been listing things on eBay lately that we have around the house that I would have binned or donated and I am really pleased at how well I have done abd thge overdraft will be gone in no time at this rate. We still have loads of things to de-clutter in the house but I wanted to ask a question on here.
This has probably been asked before but the Hubby thinks we should have a nose around car boot sales and charity shops for potential things we could put on eBay and make a profit on. Is this unethical or just me being stupid? I would feel like its ripping the charity shops/other people off, on the other hand, sounds like a plan and would help the financial situation as still ahve credit cards etc to clear so "every little helps"
Is this what most people are doing? I was nosing thru the posts of “best car boot buys etc” but I’m at work at the min so sneakily nosing.
I am very very much a newbie, someone tell me I’m being daft and go for it lol

There is nothing wrong in buying goods to sell on in the hope of making a profit BUT what you need to be aware of is that you will then be TRADING so will need to register ebay account as business account and also register with HMRC to pay tax on any profits.
However (Just being devil's advocate before longtime posters jump on my back) if it was just an odd couple of things you pick up and try your luck to start with then I'd just do it on your personal account. If you think it's a good thing and plan to do weekly car boot or CS hunts then definately register as a trader.0 -
Would just be random bits and pieces. I have been eBaying for 3 weeks solid and I am fed up posting stuffs now so deffo won't be a huge collection of things. Just random nick nacks if the catch my eye0

With Charity Shops the way I look at it is that the shop will have priced the item at what they think they can get for it and have covered their costs so if I can buy it then sell it on for a little more then that's the way commerce works.
If you find that you're making loads more than they are selling for there's nothing to stop you making a donation to the shop or even offering your services as a valuer.0
