Surely if he's the dad he has every right to be there at the birth, and certainly after it for the kid?

reckon it is up to the mum who she wants at the birth - regardless of whether she is married to the father etc. Some women simply want another woman there - they need support and encouragement and that can only come from someone they feel really calm with. For various reasons I was alone with the midwives when second child was born - that was fine they were very supportive and made no difference to the total devotion that exists between father and daughter.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't realise we could get a copy of the birth certificate, so that will be useful.

Has he questioned her reasons for this behaviour? it may just be hormones but it there a possibility he may not be the dad? I can't understand why she would distance herself from him at a time when she would need support - sorry if that sounds innappropriate.

You can apply through a solicitor for parental responsibility so even if he isn't there to sign the birth certificate he should be able to sort this out, I can't see why she wouldn't allow him to do it.

I think you need to read the post again. She does want the baby, it's the father she is growing cool towards.

His girlfriend has been very funny towards him since finding out she was pregnant and has been seeing him less and less over the past couple of months.

My point exactly. The "him" in that sentance is the baby's father, not the baby itself which is not due to be born until November.

I don't know - perhaps she didn't know how much interest she would receive after a year on £1000 at 10%p.a................?
