Redundant - who pays my SMP? help!!

I wrote a thread last week about being made redundant on maternity leave but unfortunately didn't get any replies, however, i have since then been to speak to both citizens advice and the job centre regarding my SMP. They both seem to think that despite being made redundant my old employer still pays my SMP, however, my accountant seems to think I can claim maternity allowance. I am being sent such conflicting information, I am totally confused!! The job centre also said that since I went on maternity leave in march i no longer qualify for maternity allowance anyway (I dont know why this is?) Does anyone have any idea where i stand? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I haven't received any SMP since the beginning of June and I have a 15 week old baby to support!!

Have a look here http://www.dwp.gov.uk/publications/specialist-guides/technical-guidance/ni17a-a-guide-to-maternity/statutory-maternity-pay-smp/eligibility/.
This will explain it. It sounds as though the accountant is incorrect and the JobCentre correct - but you have't given enough details to be sure so you can check it yourself.
If you don't get a response to a post it may be that we haven't noticed it - if you bump it up the board then you would be likley to get a response.0 -
Thank you so much for that!! the link was really helpful. I rang HM revenue and customs and they confirmed my employer should still my SMP, so once again, thank you
