Which are the best quality/most durable/Toughest 'Bits' for my new cordless drill?

Hi all
Before I start, when I refer to 'Bits' I mean the small screwdriver bit that fits in the end of the Drill (Phillips/Posi/Straight) etc. I am not referring to actual drill bits for Wood/Metal etc.
OK, After months of screaming at my Black & Decker cordless drill for being too ineffective, slow, not good enough etc, the Missus has finally had enough! Today I have received a magnificent Makita 18V Cordless Hamer Driver Drill. It looks beautifull and is obviously just the tool I need to repair the back gate hinges, the Bike shed door and a number of other Jobs er indoors has lined up for me. Now previously, I bought my 'Bits' from Poundland/Poundstretcher/Quality Save etc, only to find that when you put them anywhere near a screw the end of the bits chew up whilst the screw happily stays in place. Of course, I realise you get what you pay for, but never had the desire to spend any money on new drill Bits because my Black & Decker was too ineffective anyway! But now I got my new drill I want some QUALITY, HARD WEARING, TOUGH end bits.
So, peeps, please advise me of a quality brand of drill end bit. I'm guessing they're made of a totally different metal than the ones from poundland where you get 60 (yes 60) drill bits for a Quid.
Any advice guys/Gals
Well, now

Sounds to me like you're over-tightening your screws or not drilling a pilot hole first. Screwfix sells Dewalt bits in packs, so I guess if you're screwing in enough screws, you'll work your way through the bits - regardless of who makes them. Personally I'm on my third in six years of ownership - the one that comes attached to the drill generally lives the same life as the drill itself.0

In most builders merchants is are box's or jars of a top manufactorors bits on the sales counters...Makita/Bosch/Dewalt etc ..20 -30 bits in each..and they are usually on special offer
they are the ones to go for .

I would buy a couple of individual bits rather than the bulk packs as they still tend to be lower quality even when branded. I paid abuot £3-3.50 at screwfix for some single bits which lasted for the entire job - the cheap ones were disintegrating within 5-10 screws.0

Hello, try the diamond bits from screwfix, not cheap but unbustable i'm a builder and use nothing else.0

Draper 40128ANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.0

Anything will be better than 60 bits for a pound!. Make sure you use pozi bits for pozi screws and phillips for phillips screws.0

Theres only one option here, the makita torsion bit. We use them around 5 hours a day in my factory and the usually last around 3 months!! Nothing else comes close, can be used in impacts and regular drivers.

7 quid for 25 !! give me the builders merchant number, I usually pay just under £4 each. They are great though, indestructable in normal use and as I say ours are used almost non stop 6 days a week in impacts.0 -
