90% yes, they are the same network provider.

If you go in to the settings on an android phone it still does say O2-UK

Does that make any difference? As long as it takes the Tesco sim(the iphone), and is not locked to O2 then i will be happy.

Per relative who works for O2.....NO. Tesco use O2s network but the handset etc are different companies.
  • Being a customer with O2 for a few years now, I was disappointed to learn that they couldn't match the offer I asked Vodafone would do for me. My O2 12 month sim-only contract had ended and for £10.21 I got 300 mins and 3000 texts. Vodafone have offered me 600 minutes and 3000 texts for £10.50 and O2 point blank refused to match it.
The current offer with Vodafone is 300 mins and 3000 texts but they were quite happy to double my minutes if I switched yesterday.
Now also awaiting my Vodafone sim card coming though along with my wife's. I also got her 600 mins, 3000 texts and 500mb of data for £15.50, again which O2 would'nt match (sim-only for her Blackberry).

Hope this helps someone if you can pluck up the courage to ask them for the above.
