How would you feel if your poppy appeal donation was being used to bail out a young couple who hadn't paid their rent with their housing benefit. Both Had I phones. Smoked. Oh and had just moved to a. Bigger rented place on account of their entitlement because they were expecting a baby

    I couldn't care less.

They deliberatley made themselves unemployed, and expect charity donations to fund their lifestyle.

As I read it, the couple in question are already on benefits so I'm not quite sure what their circumstances are.
The OP was quite happy to accept their rent so that's why I questioned their motive.

Sounds like envy and Rumour. I'm assuming the OP has some personal problem with the couple in question so is deciding to orchestrate some vindictive campaign.

You don't know this for sure. This is just what the OP says. Do you believe everything written on a forum with no evidence. All we have is what the OP is saying I would question their motives. Personally I question posts like this as there is normally far more to them.

Makes the original poster look rather pathetic

Smoking while expecting a baby? yes - that's outrageous, they're scum. I don't want my Poppy Appeal money going to these types.

And your evidence for this is...?

The RBL does quite an in-depth application process, why should members of this forum than criticise their decision on mere hearsay?

If the couple are as !!!!less as the OP is trying to make them appear, I'm surprise she shows so much resentment at losing them as tenants.

Is this how housing benefit works?

Luckily, I've never had to claim benefits, but I thought (maybe naively) that something like housing benefit would be paid direct to the landlord. :o

Housing Benefit is usually paid to the tenant in a private tenancy.

Actually I care that the money goes to deserving homes as I collect for the poppy appeal around my village where everyone works hard for their money that they donate.
So carry on digging for the real info, OP because I've got better things to do than collect for lazy rather than injured people. I hope you are wrong.

Libertysurf it is a well-documented fact that many ex-service personnel have major problems adapting after completing their service. They're recruited as mere children, taught to obey orders and kill rather than act as individual members of society. They've never had to budget, feed themselves, clothe themselves or make many of the decisions we take for granted. Most of them adapt themselves well, but substantial number have problems, which is where the British Legion can be helpful. Not just in hand-outs, but offering support and guidance. The injuries our servicemen suffer aren't all physical.

A substantial number of the street-homeless in this country are ex-service personnel.

I'm not very good at being diplomatic/tactful so I resisted writing along these lines.
Now I'm so glad I did as your post has summed up my view far better than I ever could.
For me, the best post this week.
    Thank you
