Hi this all depends on how long you want to wait - normally quoted is 3 months... Depends on the covering - if it is paint I would wait a good couple of weeks to a month then apply 2 coats of 50/50 (50% white paint and 50% water) this is a good alternative to expensive 'coatings' - You can then fill any dings / dents and sand off. Then a couple of white undercoats before your 2 top coats - sand just before the last coat and damp rag down - lovely finish and very smooth
If you are going to wallpaper once again wait as long as you can - then 'size' the wall with a very weak mixture of wallpaper paste and water - leave to dry overnight - I would recommend you use a lining paper first then the main paper (makes stripping at a later date easier..)
Have fun, cheers Mat0 -
If its a skim over it will be dry in 3 days with plenty of ventilation.Buy contract matt such as dulux fast matt or super matt or similar and thin 25% for 1 st coat0
