Hi looking for some advice, we are so unbelievably broke at the moment and I was wondering if anyone could reccomend somewhere I could get a small loan of £200-£300, somewhere that would accept bad credit scores?
Basically I cant work and last month my oh had to take off 2 weeks from work to our young children while I was at hospital and then looking after me aswell when I was discharged. He had no holidays left so this 2 weeks was unpaid. Also we have had our tax credits reduced massively, meaning we now have no money left till oh is paid again at end of July! We have paid rent and council tax, and a few immediate bills. I have a basic account so no chance of overdraft, and no credit cards. Oh has tday been refused a raise on his overdraft and his only credit card. We have no friends and family we can ask, and nothing of any worth to pawn (my engagement ring was only £45 brand new!) Can anyone suggest somewhere we may be able to try, that would be available by end of this weekend? I have enough to feed us till Sunday, and oh has enough petrol till Friday (he cant walk/get public transport to his work).
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!x

Depending where you live, see if there's a credit union close by. They'll give you a small loan to tide you over, but will also help out with budgeting foe the future.Bern :j0

Hi thanks for your replies. I have called both credit union and crisis loan. Credit union would require me to become a member, and save for 2 months before getting a loan (you only need save £1 a week minimum but need to see savings before a loan)
Crisis loan said because we knew he would receive less wages its not classed as an emergency, and basically to deal with it.
We normally just about manage, I budget well, and we live well within our means. The problem we have is that we dont have any emergency savings because we use all our available money to pay off debts before saving! And unfortunately due to redundancy/ill health/bereavement our close friends and family are all completely struggling so we cant ask them.
I dont know if any pay day companies accept with bad credit files. And to be honest that is a very slippery slope I really dont want to go down.Ideas, help and advice always welcome, judgements and assumptions are not!!:happyhearMarrying my Mr Perfect 20130 -
Whatever you do, don't consider the pay day loans. Its a downward spiral you wont get out of.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

agreed, would be great if I could find a website where they agree to lend me £200, payable over 2 months, and not paying 5000% interest!Ideas, help and advice always welcome, judgements and assumptions are not!!:happyhearMarrying my Mr Perfect 20130 -

Seems like there is no way out for you to get this small loan. I agree with RichGold, don't take payday loans. I have met some people couldn't handle this loan, no matter how good they are in managing their money to pay off this loan. But there is nothing I could say if you insist, or at least think this is the only way out.0 -
I don't know anywhere you could get such a loan but my heart goes out to you. I have been there (but with only me to worry about so not so much of a worry). The only suggestions I can make are:
Go through your cupboards and freezer and work out what meals you can make without buying anything else, or just have to buy something basic to add.
Do you have any Tesco vouchers/Nectar card points/Boots card points you can use to buy food or essential toiletries?? Huge bags of "value" pasta and basic sauces might be a good idea...
Do you have a coppers jar or loose change in various drawers? Either bag it up and put it into your bank account or use a coinstar (although they take 8.9p in every £1 as commission)
I know you are putting every spare penny towards debt, which is great, but please consider having an envelope in a drawer somewhere where you stick £10 a week in and forget about. That's what we do now we have no credit cards and believe me, it helps in situations like this!! You need to have something for life's unforeseen emergencies.

Does your OH work for the sort of place that might give an emergency advance on his wages? No harm asking to spread the pain of the two unpaid weeks.
Instead of selling one expensive thing do you have a number of small things to sell? Outgrown kids clothing? Stuff on shelves or the back of the wardrobe? Dvds? Books? But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

If it gets to the point where you're considering using a payday lender, look at Lenders Compared instead. The interest rates are high but much cheaper than payday loans. Get one for six months or more and repay early if you need it for less time. It's the site set up after the Office of Fair Trading investigation into doorstep lenders.0
