A few months ago i had people from Swalec come round and they managed to talk me around to moving to them from e-on.. They said that they(swalec) do not charge for pre-payment meters and on average i will save £80!

I had e-on come around today saying that that swalec have mis-lead me and do charge for pre-payment meters. The two representatives from e-on went on to say that swalec are in the middle of some court injunction for mis-leading customers and actually told me lies regarding prices etc...

They quoted this at me(e-on now)

Electric with E-on including all charges = 11.6
Gas with E-on including all charges=7.25

Electric with Swalec including all charges=14.2
Gas with Swalec including all charges=7.59

I said to E-on if i signed back up with them could you change my meter from a prepayment meter....no problem...£52!!!

I rang Swalec and told them what e-on had said and the manager told me they are mis-leading me and companies will do anything to get customers,

I feel i dont know who to trust or to believe,i'm at my wits end!!
What i would like to know is this:

Is there a company out there who will not charge me to change my pre-payment meter to a standard one?
Which one is the cheapest?

Sounds simple doesn't it? well clearly it isn't as i feel it's a case of tit for tat....

I live in South Wales if that helps,i just want the truth please from anyone really.
Thanks for reading...

there are various tariffs, and these sales agent dont know much....
in reality they need you to sign the feed he family.

never ever trust an energy door salesman.

you can request swalec to notify you of your unit charges, then call eon and ask them to give theirs, and then you can work it out.

some companies will charge a standing order.

Most companies when you have been with them for 6 mths will change you to a credit providing you pass a credit score, and they will change for free normally.

some might ask for a guarantee deposit.
Promo codes are never always cheaper..... isnt that right EuropCar?

You should have paid the £52 to get rid of the pre-paid meter. You'd make back double that in one winter as you'd be able to sign up for a much cheaper tariff.

The number of companies offering this is descreasing because they still have to pay the meter worker plus OFGEM have forced them to lower their PPM prices to about the same as their standard credit prices.

    Hi vixtay,

I just wanted to clear up a few points.

The unit prices you have put in your post don't look quite right, the gas will have a primary and a secondary unit price in pence and the electricity will have a daily standing charge and then a rate for all kWh used, again in pence.

I can't post unit prices on the forum I'm afraid:o

You have been advised already that it will cost you £52 per meter to remove and change for credit meters, however, removing the meters does depend on a few things that E.ON do have to follow.

    For example;
The meters can not have been put in to collect a debt.

The customer must pay future bills by monthly Direct Debit

You may be asked to agree to an external credit check.

Each account will be looked at individually and a decision will be made.

If you need the pre-payment unit prices from us, just send me your details to WebForumAdvisors@eonenergy.com with your address or account number and I will email these over to you.

    Thanks

    Helena :)
