Injecting DPC DIY

I am buying an old 1900 house and amongst other things the survey said there was no DPC as it was built prior to this being the norm.
The walls are up to 500 mm thick solid walls and there is no sign of damp internally but it has been recommended to us that we do the injection of DPC. Having asked around it is apparent that all that is involved is drilling some holes and injecting some cream in to said holes (am I missing something???) these professional mobs charge a fortune for this service and it seems within the reach of the most basic DIYers.
One thing though, why do I need to hack off up to 1 metre? the holes are drilled at a low level so why the need to hack off?

Plaster already 'contaminated' - most people use recognised firm as they/building society need guarantee. If you do yourself (particularly at 500mm thick walls) you will require a good drill!0

If you have no signs of damp i would not bother getting it done, the house has stood there for a 100+ years and is not damp.0

We have had many people try to get us to do a DPC and cavity wall insulation in our 1905 solid stone walled house!If your house is made of stone, the DPC wouldn't work anyway. I am not sure if it is brick or stone, there is a stone frontage but the rest of the house has an external render. I had not considered this, thanks for the headsup.0
