Also, theres the Butterfly Farm in Seaforde if your child would be interested in that.

I probably should have pointed out before now she is my niece and I am her auntie/Godmother. I hope she has a good time when I eventually get sorted exactly what we are doing.

Ramble Inn is now closed and a huge for sale sign up. No idea what's going on?

Heard they went bust a while back

    Fort Royal has re-opened now

Greencastle, near Cranfield is ideal for kids because it's old, almost intact (the keep), it's free, not busy and kids can ramble all over it relatively safely.

Newcastle, Co Down is a great day out for all kids, young and old. About 30 minutes drive from Strangford.

In Strangford itself there is The Cuan. It's pub grub - if you turn right after going through the front door the dining room isn't at all formal, and at the same time isn't too much like a pub. It'll be fine for the child you'll be with.

I thought I should let yous know how we got on since yous helped us to decide what to do and see!

We took my Goddaughter to Glenariff forest park, Carrickfergus Castle, Ballycopeland Windmill and on the Strangford ferry amongst other things. We stayed in the Express by Holiday Inn in Antrim. We had a few picnics at her request, I had made her favourite - banoffee, apparently mine is the only one that tastes right. We ate in Brewer's Fayre Antrim and Subway. We had an icecream as well. We offered to take her to the cinema but when we named all the movies which were suitable to her age she informed us that she had either seen them or she didn't want to see them. She said the hotel we stayed in was the nicest one she had ever stayed in. She slept on a sofa bed and was really delighted and excited as she had never slept in one before, she even took a photo of it on her ipod.

The only problem was she didn't want to go home and wanted to stay with us for "Just one more night"!

TBH I am surprised she wasn't glad to get home because I don't have any children never mind an eleven year old who acts like a teenager! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thankyou for coming back and telling us how it went

Your goddaughter sounds just like my grandson, he too always wants to stay another night :) I too have never had children of my own but the one thing I have learned they love attention and a bit of one to one just cant be beaten.
  • It is always really nice when the OP comes back and says how they got on - so thanks!

Suki, I thought you were one of the folks from Suki Tea, but now you have me totally confused!
DJWW - cos we won't let it!
