Fair price for putting in new 5 lever lock

Hi,
Please can anyone say what would be a fair price for putting in a new 5 lever lock - there is no existing lock in the door. The door is wooden.
Had a quote of £85.
Also, any recommendations at all for someone to do this in Middlesex?
Many thanks.

£85 quid sounds reasonable IMHO.0

As long as it includes the price of the lock.
Make sure if you are going to use it for insurance discounts it must be to the appropriate British Standard. These locks command a premium.0 -
check if your local police station has a list of recommended locksmiths; no point getting a new lock fitted by a thief.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. £85 is probably the going rate. I'm a locksmith and to fit a British Standard 5 lever mortice lock from scratch would cost you around that mark. And yes it would include labour and materials. Shouldnt take more than the hour so make sure you have an agreed price before any work is carried out.0

Another option you have is to buy a lock first from the diy shop. Make sure it a british standard 5 lever. Then phone round some local chippies and ask for a quote to fit it as they are cheaper than us locksmiths!! You could save a few bob that way.0
