Question about comps

Hi, I know I'm probably posting in the wrong place (sorry!) but I'm new to this site.I was just wondering, does anyone ever win anything when they have selected not to receive mailings etc from the Companies, I always select not to receive them and am just wondering if this will affect my chances of winning?!
Haven't won anything yet.... but not been doing it for long!

I've been comping since the end of May. I've won three prizes and never selected to receive anything promotional from people. I've read on here before that people have won tons of stuff and have also never ticked the 'yes send me loads of rubbish' box.
