Hi! This is my first post, I've just spent over an hour trying to get advice from the job centre but no luck! I have just been made redundant & payed 8 weeks PILON - all I need to know is should I go to the job centre now for JSA or wait until my PILON has finished? Can someone please help!

You should visit the job centre as soon as your employment has formally terminated.
Even if you don't get any money straight away, you will get your NI contributions paid, and you will already be on the books and in the system for when you are entitled to receive money. Also, depending on your circumstances, you may be entitled to other assistance (LHA, council tax relief, extra child credits) which the job centre will be able to tell you about.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
You don't and can't visit them. You submit a claim online or by phone. Then you get an appointment then you go in. If you turn up they will just give you the phone number- so a wasted journey.
The job centre can't advise on benefit entitlement. It is just for signing on and finding work. Again any queries they just give you a number. They do chase issues but cannot say anything about what you might be entitled to as it's not their job.June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving
July challenge £50 a day. £ 1682.50/1550
October challenge £100 a day. £385/£31000 -

If you have really received PILON and are no longer an employee (rather than not being required to work but being paid), then you can sign on straight away.
(In the "olden dayes" they used to take note of pay in lieu of notice but I understand that changed some years ago.)0 -

I hope it hasnt changed, so are you saying that you get PILON for 8 weeks and the taxpayers pay you for those same 8 weeks
Therefore getting paid twice for the same time. Like I say, I blumming hope not.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Though I agree with your sentiments, I do believe times have changed.0 -
