Why is the Parcelforce fee a problem? Do you work for free?
Oooh!! Put your handbags away ladies!!Why is it disgusting that PF charge a fee for processing the payment to HMRC for you. You can always import things directly yourself and do all the work involved yourself. I assure it costs much more in hassle and time than £8. The OP was lucky it wasnt a courier like Fedex who charge far more.
Perhaps I should have been clearer! I believe it is too high a charge for what I believe is not £8 worth of work. Perhaps you know different but I think its too high. Also what IS disgusting is the way they hold your parcels to ransom until you have paid the fee - no other courier does this - they deliver and then invoice you.0 -

as you are aware of it,I assume you do your own clearance on ordering outside the EU?0 -
Well of course I don't do my own clearance, you know that, so its rather a silly question!
And yes I am quite aggrieved with ParcelFarce, thanks for asking.
why is it a silly question?
its perfectly feasible to do your own clearance
so all puff and bluster yet no action on your part0 -
My most humblest apologies to you, I was not aware of that. Therefore, my corrected answer to your original question is, no I don't do my own clearance on ordering outside the EU.why is it a silly question?

VAT is payable on goods over £18 in value when imported from outside of the EU, but as the current VAT rate is 20%, you should only have been charged £6.60 + the £8 clearance and handling fee.
It sounds as if you've either been overcharged by HMCE, or the sender put the wrong value on the package.
You also missed IMPORT DUTY plus the Post Offices charges for collecting the payment.0 -
the reason £8 is disgusting is that royal mail, part of the same company as parcelforce, do it for £40

No I didn't.
I made no mention of import duty as there wouldn't have been any payable as the shipment was well under the £135 limit for this, and I did mention the clearance fee.
Post #2you should only have been charged £6.60 + the £8 clearance and handling fee.0
