Poorly Cherry Tree

I purchased the Ideal World Patio Fruit Tree collection in January/February and the pear, apple and plum trees all appear to be doing well - at the weekend I put 2 of them into the ground as they were in the 30 litre tubs that came with them and they had developed a good root system.
The cherry tree on the other hand looks dead from about half way up although the lower growth appears new and healthy. Do I just let it be or does it require some attention to encourage growth further up?

Is there a line around the bark at the bit where the "lower half" joins the "upper half"?
Because it sounds like your fruithead is dead but your rootstock is fine, not a lot you can do if that is the case, depending on what rootstock they used for the graft you may end up with a sour, bird, or, flowering cherry tree when and if it recovers from having a dead crown on it.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head.
