disposing of old laser printers?

Any advice please? I have 2 old Konica Minolta large laser printers that no longer work and are taking up space at home. Have put them on ebay as spares/repairs and also on freecycle - but no takers at all!

Where is the best place to get rid of them? Didn't want to take them to the tip as they may be useful for someone - but is that the only way of getting rid of them?

In our local tip they have a TV & Electronics section where they are put inside a covered container. I belive they are recycled from there (possibly sold on at some point to be refurbished) - not quite sure what that means, but they are certainly not land fill.
