"Restriction code" for a mobile phone

I changed my mobile phone contract about 6 months ago from a T-Mobile monthly contract to a Vodafone one.

I got a new handset with my Vodafone contract but kept the (Nokia 6300) handset from when I was with T-Mobile.

I need to get my Vodafone handset repaired and was wondering if I could use my old Nokia with my Vodafone sim card. But when I charge the battery and turn it on I get a message saying my phone's use is restricted. It then asks me to enter a restriction code.

Does anyone know what this is and how I get it? I assume T-Mobile will be able to give it to me if I ask for it?

Thanks
