Can parent hold account for daughter in her own flat?

getting gas/electric suppy
Hiya

Becasue of a whole string of bad life events including very ill health, I'm working through debt problems. I'm struggling to find a supplier for my new flat, after having the house reposessed 2 weeks back now. My current supplier will not transfer as I have debt to them from last winters sevear weather that I just can't afford to repay off in full.

I get my keys for the new flat tomorrow afternoon, so I really need to get a move on with this

My mum has kindly offered to get the gas and electric connected under her name, so she is responsible for the bill, and for me to pay her the money. She assures me that her friends have done this for their kids going to Uni etc, but it was years ago - I'm in my 40's now!

Neither of us know if this is possible and if so, how to set about doing this. I don't want to do anyting thats you're not supposed to!

I know how to find the best tafifs (with Martins articles to guide me) and mum wants to look at capping or switching suppliers too as the price hikes are coming.

What can you suggest please?

Thanks
L xx

The account can be registered by anyone, they don't have to be living in the property. She just has to ring the existing supplier, give meter readings and register on day one.
However if you can afford to pay her, why not register yourself with the existing supplier, rather than put the responsibility on her?
Or under your circumstances would a PPM be a better option?

    Don't worry.

Find out the current suppliers for the property and they will supply you ... although they may wish to install PPMs, if not already in place, due to your bad credit.
Once the PPMs are installed, then you will be free to shop around :)
