Lost item in my itunes library

I downloaded an audiobook a few weeks ago and put it onto 2 ipods we have in the family, downloaded another one today put it onto my sons playlist only to see that the other one is not on his play list anymore and has gone from the book section of the library, I can't find it anywhere. It is still on the ipod at the mo but if i go and sync to put the new one on I am going to loose the one that is already on there aren't I? Where could it have gone?
